SLJ Hackett are delighted to offer another example of the Bristol 404. 1 of only 51 examples ever produced, 404/2007 features eye catching Metallic Red coachwork paired tastefully with Light Tan leather upholstery and body matching piping and carpets.

Dispatched from the factory to the first owner in Devon in February 1954 where it spent its first 12 years it then had two further owners until being bought by Bristol Cars in 1981 to use as a demonstrator and for testing engines.

In 1984 the son of a family of Bristol owners approached Tony Crook seeking a 404, the car was sold to him with an AA report showing it to be in reasonable condition. By this point the car was showing 31,845 miles and was fitted with the 100B2 engine it still has today.

The new owner commissioned TT workshops and others to carry out any work necessary to bring the car up to the high standard he required, including a complete engine and gearbox rebuild. He continued to have the car regularly work upon by SLJ, the substantial history file demonstrates that he was a very fastidious owner. Bills in the file total over £40,000.

The current owner bought the car in 2016 and has enjoyed trouble free motoring taking the car to its the current mileage of 57,000. Mechanically the car is good with no known faults, the bodywork is sound with minor blemishes. The interior is very good, having been reupholstered 5,000 miles ago.

During its lifetime it has had overdrive and disc brakes fitted. Apart from fitting an electric fan and discreet modern radio providing DAB reception and hands free telephone facility the car is to the original specification.
